This large, very large, home in Helsinki had been built by an architect in the 1970s, and extended by the owners in the 90s. The volumes of this Finnish house were impressive, but it was dark and earthy, using dark wood and stones as walls. The tenants wanted to bring colour and as much light as possible, knowing that winter lasts 5 months a year there and that brightness is key to the morale in Finland. Belle & Cosy had the wooden walls and doors painted in a very light grey to brighten up the whole house, keeping the living and dinning rooms’ walls in wood, to keep some of its original features. The furniture and objects were used to bring warmth and colour to the place.
